As Medical Laboratory Professionals Week comes to an end, OriGen Biomedical would like to express our gratitude to all Laboratory Pros who are critical to quality medical care.

The week of April 18-24, 2021, is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW), the 44th annual celebration of health professionals who work in the lab and play a critical role in clinical diagnostics and every aspect of patient care. Lab Professionals Week increases recognition and appreciation for the medical laboratory profession and is held every year during the last full week of April. It was established in 1975 as National Medical Laboratory Week and is supported by the American Society for Medical Technology, now known as the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS). ^[1] It is coordinated by a collaborative committee that includes members from 17 national clinical laboratory organizations. ^[2]

Laboratory professionals are essential for many clinical decisions on accurate diagnosis, prognosis, treatment planning, and patient disease management. Laboratory tests provide staff and physicians with the necessary information, ensuring patients receive appropriate, high-quality care. ^[3]

Many members of the OriGen Sales team have previously worked in the cell therapy lab, overseeing lab operations, working at academic hospital-based cellular therapy laboratories, or at the transfusion medicine labs at multi-site hospitals, where OriGen bags are routinely used. OriGen recognizes the importance of laboratory professionals and would like to express our appreciation to all dedicated medical laboratory professionals who tirelessly work behind the scenes in hospitals and other medical laboratories, ensuring the quality and safety of patient care.
